What are cookies?

Types of cookies
The ICC has defined four types of cookies.
Category 1 - Strictly necessary cookies
Cookies that enable services you have specifically asked for.
Category 2 - Performance cookies
Cookies that collect anonymous information on pages visited i.e. most popular pages, also web analytics. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor.
Category 3 - Functionality cookies
Cookies that remember the choices a user makes to improve experience of the site. Typically, these are site settings that change the way it behaves and looks, i.e. a cookie to store the region a user is from in order to display relevant information, like the weather.
Category 4 - Targeting cookies or advertising cookies
Cookies that collect information about the user's browsing habits in order to make advertising relevant to their interests.
